Concept: Project Ali
For those that follow basketball, you may have noticed the recent hype around Project Harden. A new collaboration which sees Houston Rockets all star-guard James Harden and adidas Basketball team up to tell the athlete's story in a way that has never been told or experienced before. The aim? To create the next wave in basketball style on and off court.
We ask the question, why can't cricket hero a player's journey and influence a new movement in culture? The Bacon & Egg ties and straw hats will always have a special place in our hearts, but surely it's only a matter of time before players, and even brands, begin to push boundaries to evolve the style of cricket.
Although Moeen Ali may not be an obvious player to disrupt the sport and start a new movement, he is one of a few cricketers that can match Harden's recognisable side profile and exquisite facial hair. The popular swashbuckling all-rounder is a regular in all three formats for England and is known fondly as "the beard that's feared", proving he holds quite an influence over his fans and cricket audience in general.
Food for thought.
